You will also be given the opportunity to take part in a plethora of learning activities to improve your personal and professional skills and work on engagements alongside our specialists. In addition, during your placement you will be assigned a “buddy”, who will be your support throughout your placement.

Summer internships last for four weeks and the aim is to be 100% WIN-WIN experience: they have been specifically designed to give YOU a real insight into our business, our clients, and our culture. The “Get Ahead with ACCA” Grant Thornton Experience Programme in collaboration between Grant Thornton, the department of Accounting and Finance at the UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is our newest talent fast track career scheme to be proud of.  

The programme offers a year-long (12 months; Sep to August) experience route through full-time employment at our firm, acting as a sandwich year. A great opportunity for us to attract talented young students looking to convert into our new trainees and, tomorrow, business advisors.  A great opportunity for YOU to develop new skills and strengthen your CV by finding out what it is really like doing the work of a proper trainee working in one of our service lines.

We aim for each of our placements to be a 100%-win win outcome. That is why our programme has been specifically designed to give YOU a real insight into our business, our clients, and our culture. Time spent with us will help you determine whether you want a career like this and whether Grant Thornton is the right place for you. 

By the end of your summer internship or one year employment and before returning to the University you will know if you are offered an ACCA training contract; that is have an employment contract signed before completing your academic obligations.

Who can apply: The programme is targeted at all eligible students that will complete their 3rd year of studies on the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course who want to accelerate their path to becoming certified public accounts (through the ACCA), with the goal of reaching positions of greater responsibility in the career.
