Job Objectives

Through work experience, studying, coaching, training, mentoring and development (both practically and vocationally), the completion of a course of study to obtain a recognised full framework NVQ or HNC equivalent, qualification to ensure that a vocational, managerial, or technical role required by the company can be executed competently, effectively, and efficiently.

Key Tasks

  • To undertake a range of tasks suited to the current level of training and development. Certain tasks may not necessarily be in keeping with the strict apprenticeship requirement.
  • To attend College/University, as dictated by course requirements, and complete any practical Assignment work and theoretical coursework on time and to a high standard.
  • To keep all work portfolios, log books and task records up to date and available for inspection at any time.
  • To take on additional responsibilities in year 2 of employment
  • To understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.
  • To understand and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner.
  • To comply with all health & safety policies, procedures and instructions.
  • To attend and fully participate in training reviews with company officials and/or third-party training provider officials as and when required.

Specific Training Objectives

  • Study a range of modules to develop your professional and technical competencies ready for a rewarding career in the built environment
  • Learn how both traditional and modern methods of construction are managed to maximise the sustainability of construction projects
  • Build your knowledge about the practicalities and legalities involved in delivering built environment projects
  • Develop your understanding of how people, process and digital management combine to produce successful projects
  • Develop your presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

Person Specification

Essential Attributes

  • Interest in practical tasks and the construction industry in general.
  • Keen to learn and develop technically and professionally.
  • Excellent timekeeping, punctuality and attendance.
  • Understand and embrace the College/University requirements and treat these with equal importance as the on-site learning.
  • Aspiration to become a qualified tradesperson/manager.
  • Good communicator and team player.
  • Humble and willing to listen and learn from others.
  • Initially flexible in terms of being able to move around different sites in the North West of England with an aspiration to drive and own a vehicle.
  • Embrace any opportunity to attend any role/industry specific training, provided by the business, and maintain up to date relevant knowledge of the industry.
