Company Description:

On behalf of our client, a leading quality and customer centered Construction and Property Development Company, we are seeking to employ a dynamic and professional individual for the position of Chief Accountant, who will be based at our client’s premises in Larnaca.

Job Duties:

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for the monitoring of the financial performance of the Company on a regular basis and for providing recommendations towards improving it. More specifically, he/she will be responsible for the preparation of timely monthly management accounts for reporting purposes, any other regulatory reporting required and for assisting the Management team in the interpretation of the financial reports relevant to their operations. Furthermore, he/she will be responsible for the preparation of interim/year-end financial statements and liaising with external auditors in the audit of the financial statements; for developing, monitoring and managing internal control procedures, carrying out ad hoc analysis and investigations as may be directed in respect of processes and procedures. Moreover, he/she will be responsible for the preparation of annual budgets, cash flow management and projections as well as any periodic updates as may be required. The successful candidate will also be responsible for seeing to tax related returns including corporation tax and VAT, ensuring their timely submission; as well as being the main contact with Company’s bankers and lawyers. Finally, the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating new opportunities as set by management and maintaining vendor and customer relations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting and/or related field is required
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, CPA, ACCA) will be considered as an advantage
  • LCCI Higher
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience in a similar position
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Accounting software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent knowledge of the Greek and English Languages

Job Duties:

Reporting to Senior Management, the successful candidate will actively be involved in Legal and AML compliance matters as part of the overall Legal and AML Compliance team and will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s obligations as it relates to the supervision and reporting of money laundering activities. He/she will also be responsible for internal legal matters, consulting senior management in legal matters if needed.

More specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and managing compliance ensuring that the company and its employees are complying with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures
  • Overseeing the Corporate Compliance including Anti-Money Laundering programme and functioning as an independent and objective body that evaluates any compliance matters/concerns that may arise
  • Remaining informed of all current and forthcoming legislation issued mainly by regulatory authorities, emphasizing legislation issues by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySec), the Cypriot Ministry of Finance and the Unit for Combating Money Laundering (MOKAS)
  • Monitoring any suspicious activities, investigating and reporting them accordingly
  • Being involved in any ad-hoc project projects that touch upon compliance, research the possible implications and advise the business accordingly
  • Researching, reviewing and creating legal documentation and procedures if needed

Qualifications:

  • University Degree and/or Masters in Law
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Compliance / AML officer in a CIF/ CYSEC regulated firm
  • CySec advanced certification
  • Excellent knowledge of CySec directives and regulations
  • Experience in the AML processes and compliance experience in an Investment firm
  • Experience in research, reviewing and creating legal documentations and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of both the Greek  and the English languages. Other languages will be considered as an advantage

Furthermore, he/she will perform business development and other related activities, such as presentations and preparation of proposals and any other relevant assigned duties in the areas of processes re-engineering, process optimization, strategy and operational improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Professional qualification in Quality Assurance, Engineering or any other relevant degree
  • Proven track record in Quality Management and/or Internal Quality Audit, ideally in a high technology company and complex international environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 18000 series of standards
  • Knowledge of process modelling theories and techniques
  • Hands-on experience of performing internal quality audits using a risk-based audit approach and focusing on efficiency and effectiveness of processes
