Requirements 

  • GCSE in English as a first/native language or equivalent 
  • Fluency in both English and Greek 
  • TEFL or equivalent qualification

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to tight deadlines 
  • Relevant experience of working in a primary school setting and first aid qualification will be considered advantageous

    We seek to recruit a Greek Teacher (Maternity Cover) to join our teaching team at the American Academy Larnaca Junior School in September 2025.

    Key Responsibilities

    • To provide effective teaching of the highest order for the group(s) of children assigned by the Head teacher
    • To oversee the academic, physical, social, cultural, moral and spiritual development of children in the class through pastoral care and guidance
    • To administer day-to-day routines, procedures and rules of the school 
    • To provide a first point of contact for parents of children in the class and provide a link of communication between school and home  

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education or Greek Literature or equivalent degree certified by KYSATS 
    • Excellent knowledge of the Greek Language 
    • At least 1-year teaching experience in an English or Greek speaking school
    • Strong knowledge of ICT and it’s use within the classroom ECDL or relevant qualification will be considered as an advantage. 
    • Relevant postgraduate qualification will be considered as an advantage
    • Love of working with children
    • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to tight deadlines

      • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and measurement of training effects. 

      • Ability to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. 

      • Ability to monitor/assess performance of students to make improvements or take corrective action. 

      • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand. 

      • Ability to use Microsoft office suite applications, management information systems (MIS) and training and education applications
