Leiths is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Asphalt Plant Operative to join our Quarries team at New Forres Quarry.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of our asphalt and concrete production plant, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine daily plant inspections and complete all required paperwork.
  • Operate asphalt coating and concrete plants safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor product quality and report any issues or deviations.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Weighbridge, Orders & Distribution team and tipper drivers.
  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Report plant defects and equipment issues promptly.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, cleaning and plant shutdowns.
  • Support maintenance staff during breakdowns and repairs when required.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, company policies and industry regulations.
  • Attend training courses and team meetings as required.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues where appropriate and represent Leiths professionally at all times.

We are currently looking to recruit a Concrete Plant Operative to join our team at Highland Lime Quarry, Fort William.

This is a hands-on role involving concrete batching, plant checks and routine maintenance, with a strong focus on maintaining safe and efficient plant operations.

The Role
Your main duties will include:

  • Operating the concrete plant safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out daily plant checks and completing relevant paperwork
  • Maintaining high standards of product quality and reporting any issues
  • Liaising with Orders and Distribution and mixer drivers regarding customer orders
  • Ensuring sufficient stocks of raw materials are available to meet production requirements
  • Reporting plant defects and customer complaints as required
  • Carrying out routine plant maintenance and cleaning
  • Assisting fitting staff with breakdowns and maintenance
  • Following Company Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work
  • Working at other locations as and when required

Driver – Hooklift

We are looking to recruit an experienced and reliable HGV Driver to join our team in Aberdeen.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and legally compliant operation of a range of HGV vehicles, including 4, 6 and 8-wheel tippers, 6 and 8-wheel mixer trucks, hook lifts, low loaders and articulated vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate HGV vehicles safely, efficiently and in accordance with their intended use
  • Comply with Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Regulations
  • Ensure tachographs and digital driver cards are maintained correctly at all times
  • Carry out and record daily vehicle safety checks
  • Report defects immediately to the appropriate supervisor
  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded and that loads are secured and covered where required
  • Remain aware of the surrounding environment when reversing and use a banksman where required
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, near misses and unsafe working practices
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with company Safe Systems of Work
  • Keep vehicles clean and tidy, both inside and outside
  • Take responsibility for vehicle keys and immediately report any loss or misplacement
  • Complete timesheets accurately, use the correct codes and submit them for approval on time
  • Attend Driver CPC training, toolbox talks, safety meetings and any other training required by the company
  • Communicate with customers, visitors and colleagues in a polite and professional manner
  • Work at other Leiths sites when required
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the company

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold the appropriate valid HGV driving licence
  • Hold a valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card
  • Have previous experience driving HGV vehicles
  • Understand Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Regulations
  • Be committed to safe working practices
  • Be reliable, responsible and able to work independently
  • Have good communication and organisational skills
  • Be willing to undertake ongoing training and development
  • Be flexible and willing to work at other company locations when required
