The successful candidate will work with the Medical Physics group within the PERSPECT project and will be responsible to support and organize the development of patient-specific new tomographic reconstruction techniques.
The PERSPECT project aims to enhance the accuracy of Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging in the detection of small lesions and brain damage through personalized tomographic techniques that accurately describe the physical processes of photon scattering and attenuation in relation to the patient’s anatomy.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will validate the proposed methodology through extensive simulation and experimental studies to ensure robustness and reliability in clinical settings and develop specific software algorithms by using state of the art programming tools running on HPC.
Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:
The selected candidate will be required to organize clinical data and to support with the installation of the developed programming code on GPU based HPC farms.
Position Specific Required Qualifications:
· PhD degree in a relevant field of science or engineering (Medical Physics / Computer Engineering / Electrical-Electronic Engineering).
· Experience in analytic, stochastic or iterative tomographic image reconstruction algorithms applied in Emission Tomography with ionizing or non-ionizing radiation.
· Proven technical ability to adopt theoretical solutions and to develop computer code to solve tomographic inversion problems.
· Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC).
Position Preferred Qualifications:
· Ability to work with Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) clusters.
· Knowledge of the GEANT4/GATE Monte Carlo simulation software.
