Position Summary
The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the Company remains fully compliant with all applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and internal requirements. The role oversees the validity of employee driving licences, operator competency certifications, company licences, permits, and equipment certifications to ensure they remain current at all times. The Compliance Officer has the authority to immediately suspend work activities where non-compliance or unsafe conditions are identified until all deficiencies have been rectified and compliance has been restored.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1.0 Monitor and maintain a register of all company licences, permits, approvals, and statutory certifications, ensuring timely renewals and continuous compliance.
2.0 Verify that all employees and subcontractors hold valid driving licences appropriate to the vehicles they operate and maintain accurate records of licence validity
3.0 Ensure that all operators of plant, machinery, lifting equipment, and specialised equipment possess current competency certificates, licences, and statutory authorisations relevant to their duties.
4.0 Monitor the certification, inspection, calibration, and testing status of all plant, machinery, lifting equipment, tools, and safety equipment to ensure they remain compliant and fit for use.
5.0 Conduct routine and unannounced compliance inspections and audits across all construction sites, workshops, and operational areas.
6.0 Identify non-conformities, compliance breaches, expired licences or certifications, unsafe work practices, and regulatory deficiencies, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
7.0 Exercise the authority to issue immediate Stop-Work Orders whenever non-compliance, expired certifications, invalid licences, unsafe conditions, or regulatory breaches are identified. Work shall only recommence after the deficiency has been corrected and formal authorisation to resume has been granted.
8.0 Maintain comprehensive compliance records, inspection reports, audit findings, corrective action registers, and certification documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
9.0 Liaise with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, clients, auditors, and external inspectors regarding compliance matters, inspections, audits, and statutory requirements.
10.0 Monitor changes to applicable legislation, standards, codes of practice, and industry regulations, ensuring that Company policies, procedures, and operational practices remain compliant.
11.0 Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and safety by providing guidance and raising awareness among employees and subcontractors regarding statutory and Company compliance obligations.
12.0 Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management, highlighting compliance status, outstanding actions, risks, and recommendations for continual improvement.

Level of Education Standard & Experience Required
MQF LEVEL 5 (DIPLOMA)
YEARS OF WORKING EXPERIENCE - minimum of 5 years
