Commercial Assistant Continental Europe (Full-Time Employee)

Location: France or Germany (Preferably France)

Reports to: Regional Director (RD) and Country Manager (CM) - For the area DACH/France/Benelux

Job Purpose: To work closely with the RD and CMs for this region in providing outstanding commercial and business development support to the specific trade partners. Specifically, to contribute to the expansion of trade distribution. Following up on existing key accounts, new lead generation, product training, attending trade (& consumer) shows, brochure distribution and coordination and to provide high ‘visibility’ in the marketplace and prepare benchmark reports. Working within given guidelines to meet deadlines, identify and chase new sources of business and additional commercial and business development related duties as directed by the reporting lines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Handles the inbound activity of trade inquiries (both from tour operators and travel agencies and occasionally, individual guests), including telephone calls and emails, and keeps record of all related information. Acting as a key sales point of contact and allocating appropriate follow up and prioritization as agreed with the reporting lines for the France, Benelux and DACH region.
  • Support the region with (processing group requests, distribution of rates & pricing liaising with revenue management department, convert sales and escalate to RD or CM where appropriate) direct account management of new accounts and ‘start up’ trade partners as agreed with the reporting line to include ‘outbound calling for further trade lead generation.
  • Issue new trade commercial contracts and liaise with appropriate internal departments for expedient execution. Manage trade contracts ongoing and to ensure terms, conditions are compliant and follow up with trade partners as and when required.
  • Working with Key Accounts (& own agents) to ensure trade partners revenue & passenger targets are met and exceeded. Additionally, to distribute offers, trade bulletins, trade e-communications. Oversee brochure distribution and follow up with key accounts to ensure all sales support materials are in place and on brand.
  • Maintains an updated agenda of scheduled tasks & meetings and inform wider sales & marketing group with a purpose to assist in the department’s operational efficiency. Distribution of revenue sales reports to the sales & marketing team and externally to key accounts.
  • Attend supplier and trade partner events (such as training sessions, sales blitzes, trade / CLIA Roadshows / Escort Fam Trips / Support Team at PR Events).
  • Generally, support & assist the European commercial team as and when required and directed. To allow enhanced efficiency and focus on trade distribution expansion, trade facing focus and ultimately adding considerable support in achieving team passenger numbers and company revenue goals.

  1. Educational: Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management preferred and/or a successful completed apprentice ship as “Tourismuskaufman/ Reiseverkehrskaufman”.
  2. Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in similar sales / commercial role within tourism area.

External Interactions: Collecting and exchanging information with: Tour Operators, Travel Agencies, OTAs, Marketing Agencies, PR representative & CLIA.
