The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute is seeking Postdoctoral talents for EU-funded MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships in Maritime and Marine Research, Innovation and Technology development

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), a Centre of Excellence in Marine and Maritime Research, Innovation and Technology Development, established in Larnaca, Cyprus since 2019, invites expressions of interest from outstanding postdoctoral researchers who wish to undertake international mobility by applying for a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) under the Horizon Europe programme, together with CMMI as the host institution.

Postdoctoral candidates can be of any nationality and must meet the eligibility requirements of the MSCA PF call. Selected candidates will work closely with CMMI to co-develop a strong application and will be supported by CMMI's Research and Innovation Support Unit (RISU) throughout the submission process.

CMMI offers a dynamic research environment, access to cutting-edge facilities, and integration into a network of marine and maritime stakeholders in Cyprus and abroad. Internship

CMMI INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME 2025

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) announces its fourth round of the Internship Programme for the period May – November 2025, for undergraduate and postgraduate level students. Through this programme, CMMI aims to bring new talent closer to sea-related issues and helping them understand the industry and society needs within the spectrum of the marine and maritime sectors.

If you’re a University student or a recent graduate, our Internship Programme offers you the unique opportunity to gain an immersive experience and explore the work performed by scientists.

We are looking for candidates who have a strong research interest, maturity, willpower and excitement to work in a research centre and who are motivated to learn and positively contribute to the team.

Key areas of CMMI expertise

DIGITAL: Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Internet of Things, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation

MARINE: Environmental Modelling and Mapping, Marine Bioresources, Ecosystems and Invasive Species

Entry requirements

Duration

CMMI’s internship runs from May to November in our Larnaca offices for a period of 3 weeks up to 3 months. Students may have the option to change the duration of the programme following a consultation with their buddy/mentor.

Educational Content Developer

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), invites applications for the recruitment of qualified applicants for the Educational Content Developer position at the Maritime Human Element Centre (MHEC) of CMMI, situated in Cyprus. The employment period is a fixed term one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal.

Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute:

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is a non-profit, research, innovation and technology development organisation established in Cyprus, supported by EU funds via the Teaming program, as well as the Government of Cyprus and established industry stakeholders. The CMMI pulls together expertise from local universities, industry, and international partners.

 Candidate profile:

A motivated and innovative Educational Content Developer with expertise in creating engaging and impactful educational materials for formal and non-formal STEM learning environments. Specializing in ocean literacy and vocational education and training (VET) programs, with a strong focus on project-based learning and lifelong learning initiatives. Proven experience in managing EU projects, proposal writing, and developing curricula tailored to diverse audiences, including industry partners and government bodies.

 Job description:

The Educational Content Developer will be responsible for creating educational content, including designing learning activity sequences, projects for project-based learning, and training programs for vocational education and lifelong learning, based on the scientific outputs of all CMMI Centres and concluded or ongoing research projects where CMMI participates. The role involves delivering content for both formal and non-formal STEM learning environments with a focus on ocean literacy, as well as developing vocational education and training programs. Within the framework of MHEC activities, the applicant will participate in EU projects and the proposal writing process, support the preparation of a scientific study on mapping occupational skills required for employment in the shipping industry in Cyprus, and contribute to CMMI plans. These plans emphasize the implementation of local and national actions and initiatives focused on formal and non-formal education in collaboration with Ministries and Governmental Departments, Municipalities, Developmental Companies and Chambers of Commerce, Universities, Civil Society Organizations, and industry partners.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Education Studies, Science/Engineering, or Environmental Science/Studies;
  • Applicants with a first degree in shipping and postgraduate studies in education will also be considered;
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Science/Engineering, Environmental Science/Studies, or Science Education Studies will be considered an advantage;
  • Experience in proposal writing, research, and implementation of EU-funded projects will be considered a strong advantage;
  • A very good mastery of the Greek and English language needs to be documented.

  • Strong analytical and integrative thinking;
  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills;
  • Strong written, oral, graphical, and digital presentation skills;
  • Ability to interact with governmental, industrial, and other external organisations to build productive relationships;
  • Ability to work under pressure, delegate and plan personal workload effectively;
  • Ability to solve problems creatively.
