Skills and Requirements:

  • An IT professional with 1+ years’ experience in information technology or cyber security. Or a university post-graduate having studied a computer science degree.

  • Undertaken cyber security training and obtained, or be on a path to obtain, an industry recognised cyber security certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or SANS GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).

The Role:

As a Cyber Security Analyst, you'll closely collaborate with the Cyber Security Team and report to the Chief Security Officer. Your main responsibility is to ensure the security of the ICT infrastructure, user devices, networks, and cloud resources, thereby creating a secure operating environment for the business, its employees, and the services provided to our customers. On a daily basis, you'll play a crucial role in the organisation's security efforts by investigating security events, alerts, and incidents, utilising your analytical skills and best-in-class security tools for remediation.

The role:

The Fraud Risk Manager will support the Chief Risk Officer by managing operational fraud risk across card issuing, card acquiring, and payments processing. The Fraud Risk Manager focuses on minimizing operational fraud, ensuring compliance with card scheme guidelines, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to align fraud risk management with both Cypriot and UK regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities:

Operational Fraud Management (Issuing & Acquiring):

  • Lead fraud prevention efforts across card issuing and card acquiring activities, focusing on minimizing fraud risks associated with transactional fraud, chargebacks, and app fraud.
  • Develop and maintain fraud detection and prevention systems for both issuing and acquiring operations, ensuring alignment with industry benchmarks and card scheme rules.
  • Ensure compliance with card scheme fraud-related rules and guidelines for both issuing and acquiring activities, in collaboration with the CRO.

Chargeback & Transaction Monitoring:

  • Oversee chargebacks, ensuring adherence to card scheme rules for both card issuing and acquiring transactions. Manage second presentments and arbitration cases efficiently.
  • Monitor transaction data to detect fraud patterns in real-time, coordinating with the CRO and other stakeholders to implement fraud detection strategies that minimize risk in both issuing and acquiring operations.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Leverage data analytics to identify fraud trends across card issuing, acquiring, and payments processing. Regularly report on fraud KPIs, including chargeback rates and fraud-to-sales ratios, ensuring compliance with the company’s risk appetite as defined by the CRO.
  • Support the CRO in providing regular fraud reports that inform broader risk management strategies, ensuring fraud risks remain within acceptable thresholds.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the AMLCO and compliance teams to ensure that fraud prevention measures complement AML/CTF frameworks. Specifically, ensure clear boundaries between operational fraud (under your remit) and sanctions-related risks (under AMLCO/MLRO).
  • Assist the CRO in ensuring fraud prevention strategies align with the company's risk appetite, particularly in relation to card issuing and acquiring fraud risks.

Regulatory & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure all fraud management activities comply with relevant regulations in Cyprus and UK, as well as card scheme rules for both issuing and acquiring.
  • Collaborate with the CRO to ensure the company meets regulatory requirements from both Central Bank of Cyprus and FCA, with a focus on operational fraud risk for card issuing and acquiring.

Support CRO's Risk Strategy:

  • Contribute to the fraud risk management strategy, ensuring alignment with the CRO’s broader risk management framework. Focus on minimising operational fraud while supporting the company’s strategic growth in card issuing and acquiring.
  • Assist in scenario analysis and crisis management planning to ensure resilience against operational disruptions caused by fraud in issuing and acquiring.

Skills and Experience:

Operational Fraud Expertise:

  • 5+ years of experience in fraud risk management, with specific expertise in both card issuing and card acquiring fraud. Strong knowledge of chargeback management, transactional fraud detection, and fraud prevention systems.
  • Clear understanding of the difference between operational fraud (your remit) and sanctions/PEP risks (handled by the AMLCO and MLRO).

Data-Driven Fraud Management:

  • Proven ability to analyse transaction data from both issuing and acquiring operations, using analytics tools to detect fraud patterns and mitigate risks effectively.

Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of card scheme rules for both issuing and acquiring, as well as AML/CTF regulations in both Cyprus and UK markets. Proven experience ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

  • An experienced cyber security engineer with 5 year’s experience across several cyber security domains, with a thorough understanding of cyber security analysis and knowledge of IT security best practice, solutions, and infrastructure.
  • Obtained relevant information security certifications, such as CISSP, ISSAP, CEH, CASP, GSEC, GCIH, etc.

The Role:

Customer Focus

  • Conduct qualitative research of payment verticals of our customers to understand and deliver insight towards intelligence/investigation trends, and how these trends represent risk.
  • Collaborate closely with AML, Compliance, Finance, IT and other operational teams and stakeholders to ensure that risk intelligence outputs are supporting the onboarding, periodic review and monitoring of customers.
  • Develop and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management Framework: Ensure the European operations align with the enterprise-wide risk appetite statement and assessment.  

Accountability

  • Optimise risks but AnalysingEU transaction in order to optimise risk management strategies for clients 
  • Reduce risks through risk assessment practices; identify risks and opportunities for the existing fraud control measures (Risk Engine) and support the translation of insight into tactical project and detection design.  
  • Prevent loss by investigating trends and specific cases amongst customers and transactions to prevent loss from fraud and credit risk using data mining, predictive analytics tools, and social network analysis.
  • Commercial Risk Management: Manage the commercial risk associated with our customers, including their financial and regulatory standing, and address risks arising from excessive fraud, chargebacks, app fraud, and recalls.
  • Identify and recommend to the Chief Risk Officer risk mitigation strategies comprising the various combinations of commercial, technical, and legal approaches. 
  • Highlight heightened customer risks to Sales and legal teams in order to ‘price in’ risk factors and commercial mitigants.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer, update and apply the risk framework, and monitor ISX Group customers as the intersect or interact at any stage with EU operations with regards to the Company’s risk appetite.

Design & Deliver solutions to our customers:

  • Work with the business, and broader technology team to agree software specifications and standards.

As an Application Security (AppSec) Engineer, you will need strong communication and collaboration skills, to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, QA, and operations.

You will be responsible for working with the software developers/leads to ensure secure coding best practices are applied across a multi-disciplined team; the Product Management to consult on the secure design of our products and services; and the QA Team to advise on security testing methodologies and validating the remediation of vulnerabilities.

You will be required to train Software Development teams in the areas of secure development and work collaboratively with our ITSM, DevOps, Technology & Infrastructure teams to support the delivery of projects and product improvements prioritised by the business.
