The role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Chargeback Analyst to join our team.
This position focuses on managing chargebacks across issuing and acquiring, supporting operational excellence and contributing to the company’s broader risk management framework.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in chargeback processes, dispute resolution, and fraud investigation within a regulated financial environment.
This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting and is passionate about optimising processes and mitigating risks.
Responsibilities:
- Issuing and Acquiring Chargebacks:
- Review and manage chargebacks for issuing and acquiring, ensuring compliance with card scheme rules and company policies.
- Prepare and submit required documentation to support disputes, including responses for second presentments and arbitration chargebacks.
- Communicate with card issuers, acquirers, and merchants to resolve disputes effectively.
- Monitor and reconcile chargeback proceeds to ensure financial accuracy and timely settlements.
- Fraud/AML Monitoring:
- Conduct daily reviews of flagged transactions to identify potential fraud or AML concerns.
- Take appropriate actions, including approving legitimate transactions, marking suspicious activities, or escalating confirmed fraud cases.
- Coordinate follow-up actions for fraudulent transactions, such as initiating chargebacks, reporting internally, or notifying clients.
- Analyze trends and patterns in flagged transactions to identify operational risks and recommend preventive measures.
- Merchant Collaboration and Education:
- Educate merchants on chargeback prevention strategies, including updating terms and conditions to align with card scheme rules and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with merchants to resolve recurring disputes and provide actionable feedback to improve transaction quality.
- Reporting and Risk Insights:
- Generate and present periodic reports on chargeback trends, fraud activity, and operational risks for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Lead Chargebacks Analyst and the Head of Card Payments Risk to align chargeback processes with strategic risk management objectives.
- Proactively identify opportunities to optimize operational workflows and reduce chargeback volumes.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in chargeback management within issuing and/or acquiring environments.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to forecast dispute outcomes and assess risk implications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of card scheme rules, fraud prevention techniques, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with merchants, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with fraud detection tools and payment systems is an advantage.
- International experience or exposure to diverse regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
