The Client
A Family Office in Cyprus.
Responsibilities
An excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join our client’s family office team. The new recruit will be responsible for the accurate accounting, valuation, and reporting of the Company’s investment funds and portfolio holdings. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with alternative investments, and the ability to work in a dynamic, high-touch environment.
Main responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate financial records for investment portfolios, including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and direct investments
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and performance reports for internal and external parties when requested
- Reconcile cash and investment positions across multiple custodians, independent fund managers and banks
- Process capital calls and distributions (subscriptions and redemptions)
- Calculate NAV and investment performance metrics
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules for all investment entities
- Assist with tax reporting requirements when required
- Monitor and track management fees, carried interest, and other fund expenses
- Implement and maintain internal controls over financial reporting processes
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
Profile of the ideal candidate
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CFA (or progress toward CFA certification) is preferred
- At least 3-5 years of Fund Accounting experience ideally in Private Equity, Hedge Funds, or a Family Office
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting and ASC 820 fair value measurements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, for interacting with various stakeholders like family members, advisors, and service providers
- Tech savvy – proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with investment performance and portfolio management platforms such as Addepar, Masttro, Black Diamond,eFront, or similar systems will be considered an advantage
- Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms such as Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems will be considered an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology platforms for data aggregation, performance reporting, and portfolio analytics will be considered an advantage
- Able and willing to occasionally travel internationally
- Fluent in English. Knowledge of Russian and/or German will be considered an advantage.
